So I went to the JM Weston today 'cause they had a sale and I didn't like a single shoe! All o them looked too conservative! Well actually I liked one pair, suprise, suprise looks like my ferragamos. Anyway they were size 11, running too big, and the price around 500. The salesman was assisting one client who asked what does he do for a living said - I'm a lawyer.

I continued to walk up Madison and on 69 I passed by this little butique with good looking shoes in the window. Santoni , as it tuned out, had a sale sign so I'm gonna visit them this week.

Nike suprised me again with the whole line up of retro Air Max. As an part of ther Air Max 360 launch they released 1987, 1990 (2003 Europe colors, finally!), 1993 ,1995 (green) 1997 (silvers), and 2001. 1990 are quite affordable - 80$, Greens 95 and Silvers are 150.
I also ound absolutely awesome brown leather 1987 at the foodlocker in the village.
Awesome, man I'm getting them on Monday!

Also, JVC SR-MV40US is a very interesting machine. With 100GB Hard Drive and upgraded "proessional remote this would be a killer? Come on, this aspires to be a "Professional" machine but the remote looks like 1996 Panasonic Omni.

T40 buzzing screen noise.

So i thought the noise stopped. Not really. Fan still fluctuates but there is another even more annoying noise comming from the left side - vincinity of USB ports. Its a static, buzzing sound whenerver the screen gets updated or the pointer moved. It can be best described as the noise Jedi sword emits in Star Wars. Its driving me nuts. Its stops when I switch to the battery. Initially I thought that running the processor on slower speed will cure the problem but it didnt. I downloaded a little utility called StepSpeed to monitor/change the processor speed. I think I exhausted all the possibilities at this point. Its time to call EZServ.

So all of the sudden the fan on my "new T40 kicks in..spools up for a couple of seconds , then stops, then spools up again. I had enough... quick lookup on google discovers that it is a common problem. People reporting fan staying on in a high gear all the time...fan fluctuating...goign back and for low/high speed. I found an updated controller software on IBM web site that allegedly mitigates the problem but it turned out that my BIOS is out of date. IBM gladly provided a solution, So I had no choice but to go ahead and flash the BIOS first (was a little bit scared when the screen went blank at the end of flashing) Flashed the controller after that and the fan stopped fluctuating. Its barely audible now. Yay!

My new T40

So i bought a refurbished T40 today. $750. Looks brand new, the battery was manufactured in 2003 but first used in May 2005. Weird. The hard drive chirping is above my tolenarance level.Its so damn loud i can hear it from the across the room.My Old Latitude D600 beater is quient as a mouse compared. The fun stays on more then it should althought it stays on kinda low/quet speed. The one think that annoys the hell out of me is the low buzzing sound when the pointer aproches the left side of the screen. WTF? I'm gonna send it back to IBM if it doesn stop.

In Dec 2004, the Investor buys a TBA with January Settlement. 48 hours before the settlement, the broker (seller) has to deliver pool information to the Investor (buyer). The Investor is not obliged to take the delivery - he has an option to postpone the delivery to the next month (the roll). So, our Investor sells back January TBA to the dealer, and simultaneously purchases February TBA.
The difference in Feb TBA and Jan TBA prices is known as a "drop".The investor gives up the coupon and principal paydowns on the security that he is rolling to the dealer. The dealer, in turn, foregoes receipt of the funds from those securities for another month.

Now, if ((Paydowns + Interest on Jan TBA) X Reinvestement Rate) < (The drop X Reinvestement Rate), our investor will roll.

Unbelievable...apparently I missed AIR 180 release! Nike dropped 180s last December, even creating a Make-Your-Own 180 NIKE ID web page. The whole thing was limited to 60 pairs a day. Anyway, 180s have been poppin on Ebay and can be yours or merely $130. Thats not bad -I was expecting at least $200 range.

For these of you who dont know 180 is one of the best lookin running shoes EVER! Its been 15 years but ot still looks fresh and incredibly light! 15 years! I still remember the commercial on MTV - runner on a page of a magazine has to run away because someone sets the magazine on fire!
180 system neve gained a lot of popularity...I believe it was used again in Charles Barkleys - but the shoe look heavy and in David Robinsons 180 Force with the pump technology (great looking bball shoe) if memory serves me corectly Robinsons costed $150 back in 1991!!

Suprisgly the 180 has to rereleased around the same time it arch rival (in Europe) Adidas Torsion - 3 colourways looking good!

VW CORRADO SLC VR6 - 15 years has passed since Corrado debut, and when his A2 platform siblings look completely out of day today Corrado still manages to look fresh and powerful. Black is the best color for Rado - suprisingly red looks great too (it rarely does unless on Ferrari) but only with Black Rims. G60 engine can be pushed to 240hp but also could be a little bit problematic (G - Laders like to blow up) VR6 seems to be a better choice. Syncto never was offered for Corrados but even though it is often considered to be best handling FWD coupe (untill Interga arrival).

I was up all night fixing my broken Palm V.... it is alive and kicking again....seems that the battery is on its last legs though. Here is the list of programs that I installed

Palm V OS 4.01 TOP 10

1) AAA Font Viewer + Font Hack 123 + Alpha Fonts (this is an absolute essential, allows you to display cute tiny size 8 fonts, resulting in beautiful 40X25 screen). Unlike FontBucket it works with ALL apps.

2) GraffityAnywhere (amazing app allowing you to write graffity all over the screen as opposed to the designated area only. I cannot imagine using my Palm V without it!

3) ISilo+ISiloX - html, txt, doc compressor and reader, offline web browser, etc - pulls all the data off the web or the hard drive compressing into small pdb files. Pretty much a "Web-On-the-Go type of app" working flawlessly with NY Times or any other site thats using RSS feeds.

3) FunSMS3 - Impressive Interface, magnitute of options, support for long SMS, Bluetooth, think of it as a powerful email client for all your SMS needs. The only bugger is it doesnt leave a copy of the "sent" message on your phone.

5) SuperMemo - Essentially a flash-card app on steroids, widely popular in Eastern Europe ported to the handhelds. Palm version retains all the functionality. Drills, Tests are all there toghether with a bunch of free databases to get you started. Fantastic app for memorizing words/phrases in foreign language.

6) FileZ - Norton Commander for Palm with Battery/Memory status screens, lets you see ALL files on your palm, toggle the flags, etc.

7) My Tiralire - powerful yet simple to use "MS Money" clone for the Palm, lets you keep track of your expenses, balance your checkbook, export data to Excel, etc. Great impovement over the built-in Expense app.

8) TimeWhiz (PWC) or TakeTime - time tracking apps

9) BatteryLog 2.0 (PalmHack) + XMaster - detailed info on your battery..great for beaten-up Palms like mine with dying batteries.

10) Lyme (MathCad clone for Palm)

BTW, I saw HP DV1040 at the Compusa today...I must say I'm impressed. Pluses: wide 1280:790 BrithView 14.0 screen...suprisingly small footprint (i think its even smaller then my T23) plus the ability to play DVDs with the computer turned-off. The built quality was above average, too. I wasn't able to check its weight as all laptops were practically chained to the desk with a big metal bar that runs across the keyboard. Minuses: Shared Video RAM (what was HP thinking?), the keyboard feels flimsy, cheesy blue illuminated buttons above the keyboard for DVD playing.

Imagine my disbelief Compusa while i noticed a bunch of high-end Sony VAIOs on display (at Compusa!), including $2999 razor-thin carbon Vaio X505 with ZX Spectrum 48 like keyboard. My favourite - S260 with gorgeous 13.3 wide XBrite screen (hands down the best screen on a laptop I've ever seen!) with 32MB of DEDICATED(!) Vram.

If it's 3 then ask them who can help you resolve your pain and suffering so you can be productive again.

I finally stopped by www.BHPhotoVideo.com and picked up the famous Philips DV642. The Numero Uno on Amazon.Com...sold out everywhere. BH carries it for $66...not too bad. Whats so special about it, you may ask? For startes, it plays Divx right out of the box, has NTSC-PAL converter, not to mention progressive scan and composite out. The quality of the Divx is so-so more VHS then DVD but who cares. Couldnt test the progressive out 'cause our TV doesn't suport it. Couldn't test the NTSC-PAL 'cause i have no PAL discs. The unit itself is ugly as hell with no forward/rewind buttons on the front. How are you supposed to use it if you loose your remote? But then what should one expect for 66 bucks?

Let me digress for a while..Its been a really long time that I saw something combining great form with functionality. It seems that the manufacturers these days do not know or just do not want to merge these two. Lets take the IPOD as an example; it looks great but functionality wise it sucks big time (poor battery life, no remote, low quality screen). Take DV642 - impressive specs but horrendous form.
